For heaven's sake, just hire me.

I thought software engineering was the easiest way to get a good paying job, that’s why I took it as my major in my bachelors (i love programming but as a hobby, I don’t want to do it for a living anymore).

For the past few months I have been constantly applying for internships and jobs, where ever i find them, linkedin, whatsapp groups, telegram channels, job portals etc. but i have not even heard back from anyone (yeah, apart from the “thank you for applying … we have decided to move on”). I am basically fed up at this point. Then there are these fake postings or “ghost postings” where companies just list the jobs, for whatever reasons I don’t know with no intention of hiring anyone for that role (seriously?? show some consideration)

Come on, am I not fit even for entry level roles???

Then there are these companies that expect freshers to have some weird level of experience, if no one is willing to bet on someone, how is any fresher ever going to have the experience?

May be if I am was from some better college things would have been easier, but not sure about that also.

Oh, I almost forgot to mention, the great “AI”, did it have to come around the time I will be graduating? It should have come before I joined college, so that I would have chosen a different major or after my college, when i have at least 2 years of experience as I wont be a fresher at that point. But life does not always (in fact, never) goes our way. The funny thing is people are adding AI to everything, whether its needed or not. I saw an AI toothbrush the other day, seriously?

One group (heads of AI companies) says AI will take over entry level software jobs and then another group (programming course sellers) says AI wont and cannot replace “human judgement”. We cannot trust both of them, as they are giving advice that will help them (tell them to keep their advice to themselves) not us. A great man (can’t remember his name) said never take advice from people who will benefit from that advice (i guess this is what he said, please verify).

I am in a state of hopelessness. I don’t know what to pursue in life anymore. I am not finding the interest in learning cs concepts these days. I am thinking of pursuing some other career. Although there is this feeling that this field was what I spent most of my time studying, I am going to consider this as a sunk cost (hehe, just read it some time back in “the personal mba” book) and start learning skills that will help me in other fields.

If you or anyone you know would like to give me a chance in any of the following, please reach out to me (i self learnt these over the years):

Until then I am planning to broaden my set of skills as I have too many hobbies and rather than being idle and despairing about being unemployed soon, learning new things might make me a better person.

Basically, what i am trying to say is:

For heaven’s sake, someone just hire me.
